Watcha Reading Wednesday

Watcha Reading Wednesday

Another week, another Wednesday! This week I’ve slowed down a bit and am only reading one book!

My CR is Sinner’s Playground (The Harlequin Crew #1) by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti.

I had been seeing this book everywhere and added it to my TBR. Instead of picking up one of the many physical books on my TBR, I decided to buy the kindle version of this and dive right in. I can’t stop reading it…I’m enthralled by the story and characters. This Dark Gang Romance has had me turning pages faster than ever before, I’m that interested in what’s happening.

Rogue is back from the dead and here to haunt her past. She’s on a mission and will stop at nothing to get what she wants…enter the Harlequin Boys rom her childhood.

This book has the POV of Rogue, Maverick, Fox, JJ, and Chase and I am living for each of them. I’m about 400 pages in and I may or may not be obsessed with Rogue and am slightly in love with Fox and his overprotective tendencies, as well as JJ’s personality. The sexual tension is *chef’s kiss* and I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I believe this is a RH, so I’m (im)patiently waiting for Rogue to make her rounds. Le Sigh.

I have a feeling I’ll be on book two by the end of the day!

Synopsis

Here’s the synopsis from amazon…see trigger warnings at the end!

Dead girls don’t feel pain.

But they like the taste of vengeance.

Maybe that’s why I came back to my hometown. Because it sure as hell wasn’t for the surf. But what else was I supposed to do when I found myself in Sunset Cove with twenty bucks to my name, the key to my enemies’ secrets hanging around my neck and a mouth full of grave dirt that wouldn’t wash clean?

I hate the Harlequin boys.

But this is the perfect opportunity to take what they owe me. Because once upon a time, they broke my heart, stole my life and sent me away from everything I’d ever known.

Fox, JJ, Chase and Maverick.

The four names tattooed onto my heart more permanently than any of the ink on my skin. They don’t just live in this town anymore, they rule it. And the view here may be beautiful, but the sun, sea and sand hide dark secrets.

The gangs.
The lies.
The violence.

It all lurks beneath a veil so thin that once you’ve seen through it, you can never close your eyes to the truth again.

But I don’t plan on closing my eyes. I have four devils set in my sights. And this dead girl no longer has anything to lose.

This is an enemies to lovers contemporary series where the girl will end up with multiple love interests and all of the characters are in their late twenties. Trigger warning: this series features gangs, violence, dark romance and jealous/possessive themes.

Watcha Reading Wednesday

This is just a week of new organization and blog posts for me! Today’s is “Watcha Reading Wednesday!”

I currently have three reads going on (not usually my style but here we are).

Book 1

The first is a reread of JLA’s fourth Lux book, Origin. I may or may not have just finished it last week, but I finished Oblivion yesterday, the first three books in Daemon’s perspective, and just had to keep going. I’m also majorly in love with Daemon, so I’m happy to keep reading!

In case you don’t know, the Lux series is a YA fantasy that deals with an alien species called the Luxen. Katy, the MC, moves to WV and meets a peppy and loving Dee and her hot, and not so friendly brother Daemon. The longer Katy is in WV, the more weird things she notices and the closer she becomes to Dee (and Daemon despite his many protests). Katy learns some life changing information and then shit hits the fan over and over again. But, Daemon is doing his best to protect his family and Katy, even though the rest of his family doesn’t want him to help Katy. These books made me cry, laugh, rage, and I may or may not have gotten jealous a few times…I like to dive right in as if I’m the MC…what can I say? Anyway, highly recommend this series!

Book 2

The second book I’m reading is an adult standalone and spinoff of the Lux series and it’s called Obsession (which perfectly describes how I feel about these books).

This book follows Hunter, whom we meet in Origin briefly and again in Oblivion. He’s an Arum (another alien) and works for the DOD. He doesn’t follow what the other Arum want and is extremely alluring and may be my new favorite. This book is VERY adult in the best ways possible and I am going to be sad when I finish it (probably today). The Lux series talks so much shit about the Arum, they are enemies after all, but it’s been interesting to see it from a different perspective. JLA’s writing is something that sucks me in and I can’t stop reading her books. I don’t know what’s going to happen when I finally read all of her current books and have to wait for more!

Book 3

My third current read is the Prison Healer by Lynette Noni.

I have the beautiful Fairyloot edition of this book, but I’ve been listening to the audiobook while I work on my Etsy shop. I can’t say that I’ve grasped every detail because I am multi-tasking, but I am enjoying the premise so far. I’m only about 100 pages in and I love the plot and characters. I enjoy the magic aspect that was slowly woven into the storyline. I also am obsessed with the cover and purple sprayed edges…just saying! Since I am only doing audiobook with this one, it is taking me longer, but I plan on listening to more of it today!

That’s all for now! I’m hoping to finish at least one of these tonight, to finish June with 18 books read! That may be my biggest month yet!

What books are you currently reading? I’d love to chat!
